Usage

Apply a generous amount of sunscreen. An adult should use approx. 40 ml for the whole body, a child about 20 ml - or as a rule of thumb: one handful per person. It is important to use the recommended amount to achieve the stated sun protection factor.

Apply the sunscreen in good time, preferably 20-30 minutes before you go out into the sun, and ideally in two applications.

When bathing, reapply frequently. The same applies if you stay in the sun for extended periods.

Be aware that sunscreen can stain clothing, textiles and other surfaces. Therefore, allow the sunscreen to fully absorb into the skin before contact with these.

No, Cana Cares sunscreens contain no perfume.

Can I get sunburned even if I use sunscreen?

Yes, unfortunately you can get sunburned. Although our sunscreen gives you top-tier protection, it is not a 100% guarantee against sunburn, and we always recommend following the three sun tips to avoid sunburn:

Sunscreen (at least SPF 30 - or SPF 50 for fair or sensitive skin)

Shade, especially between 12 and 3 PM

The most common reason for getting red, even though you've used sunscreen, is that you applied too little sunscreen, or that you forgot to reapply after swimming or physical activity. For this reason, we always recommend applying sunscreen twice before going out in the sun, and again after bathing or if you sweat.

What does it mean that the sunscreen is water-resistant?

If a sunscreen is water-repellent, it means it has been tested to retain at least 50% of its protection after two 20-minute sessions in the water.

However, it is important to understand that no sunscreen is waterproof. Always remember to reapply sunscreen after swimming, sweating, or towel-drying to ensure you remain optimally protected.

Will my clothes get stained by sunscreen?

Yes - and no. We recommend that you always apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before you go out in the sun - and, conveniently, preferably early enough for the sunscreen to fully absorb into your skin before you put on clothes.

When the sunscreen has fully absorbed into your skin before you put on clothes, you minimize the risk of it leaving stains on your clothing. However, this can still happen if, for example, you sweat, so always be cautious, especially with light-colored fabrics, and make sure to wash the sunscreen off your skin before you go to bed so you don’t risk it transferring to your bedding.

Can I use the sunscreen on my face?

Yes, you can definitely use Cana Care Sun Lotion SPF 50 on your face. We have developed our sunscreen with such care that it feels more like a facial cream than traditional sun protection. The formula is packed with nature's own moisturizers like soothing aloe vera and cooling cucumber extract, which, together with nourishing vitamin E, give your skin the ultimate care in the sun. We use only the newest and gentlest UV filters, which are very pleasant for delicate facial skin. As it is also effectively water-resistant, you can confidently stay active and enjoy the water without compromising your protection. Does your sunscreen contain the sun filter DHHB?

Yes, our sunscreens contain the UV filter DHHB, but they meet all requirements (and even exceed them). We know that this particular impurity in DHHB has received a lot of attention in cosmetics, and new legal requirements are being introduced regarding maximum levels in raw materials for cosmetic use. A limit is being added to the Cosmetics Regulation setting a maximum of 10 ppm DnHexP in DHHB raw materials – this limit comes from the SCCS, the European Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety, which includes, among others, many toxicologists with deep expertise in safety assessment. In our DHHB raw material there is a maximum of 1 ppm (that is, 1 in 1,000,000) DnHexP, so we therefore have a safety factor of 10 above the level the committee considers safe. Because we meet the limit (and more) and comply with the upcoming requirements, it is completely safe to use our products containing DHHB.

In addition, all our sunscreens are 100% fragrance-free, contain 0% endocrine-disrupting substances, and hold kolbe-A at Kemiluppen, so they are completely safe to use.

Why should you use sun protection?

The most important reason to use sun protection is to care for your health and your skin in both the short and long term. The sun's UV rays can damage cells' DNA, which in the worst case can lead to skin cancer (including melanoma). By using sunscreen every day, you protect your skin from these harmful rays.

At the same time, sun protection is the most effective way to prevent premature skin aging. UVA rays break down the skin's elasticity and collagen, causing deep wrinkles and pigmentation issues that could otherwise have been avoided.

Keep an eye on your skin - if it turns red, you have either used too low an SPF or applied too little sunscreen.
