Due date calculator: calculate your due date easily

Find your due date with our due date calculator

Have you just become pregnant, or are you hoping it will happen soon? No matter where you are on the journey to becoming a parent, it’s a special time filled with anticipation, joy and maybe a little nervousness. One of the first questions that arises is: When is my due date, and how can a due date calculator help me find out?

At Cana Care we’ve made it easy for you to calculate your due date. With our digital due date calculator you can quickly and accurately find out when you can expect to meet your little miracle. Just enter the first day of your last menstrual period or the due date from a scan — we’ll take care of the rest for you.

Why is the due date important?

The due date is more than just a date on the calendar. It’s the focal point for planning, expectation and preparation. It’s the day family and friends ask about and the one you count down to. Although only a few give birth exactly on the calculated day, the due date provides structure and reassurance during the wait.

For many expectant parents, knowing the expected birth date becomes a source of motivation throughout the months of pregnancy. It reminds you what it’s all about — and gives energy to get through the difficult or long days. Each passing week feels like a milestone, and the waiting suddenly gains more structure and meaning.

The due date is often the first thing entered in the calendar, and it serves as the basis for the many big and small decisions to be made during pregnancy. This can include planning parental leave and holidays, setting up the nursery and buying baby gear. For many, it’s also a way to create shared focus and joy in the family, where everyone can follow how far along you are and when the little one is expected to arrive.

How your due date is calculated

Most due date calculators use the first day of your last menstrual period as a starting point. From there, 280 days — equivalent to 40 weeks — are added, giving you an estimated arrival date for your baby. If you know your ovulation or conception date, the calculation can be even more precise.

Some women have very precise knowledge of when ovulation occurred — especially if they have undergone fertility treatment. In these cases, the due date can be calculated more accurately by adding 38 weeks to the conception date.

It’s important to remember that nature doesn’t always follow the calendar. Statistics show that only 3–5% give birth on the exact due date, but most deliver within a couple of weeks around that day. In the end, the body and baby decide when the time is right.

At early medical appointments or scans, the due date may also be adjusted if the baby’s size doesn’t quite match the calculated date. This can lead to new expectations, but the most important thing is that you have a guideline that both you and your healthcare professionals can use to navigate.

The due date calculator’s role in reassurance and preparation

Knowing your due date and which trimester you’re in makes it easier to plan everything from parental leave and holidays to nursery setup and buying baby items, and it can also be helpful for the midwife, who can advise on specific preparations. It also gives you the opportunity to prepare mentally and physically for birth. Many find that having a date to relate to makes the wait more tangible and creates a sense of togetherness with partner, family and friends.

Although the due date is not a guarantee of when labor will start, it’s an important guideline that, together with a due date calculator, helps you navigate the many stages of pregnancy. Every week that passes feels like a small victory, and dreams of the new life grow larger.

Fertilization is the decisive process that marks the start of a pregnancy. It’s the moment a sperm meets an egg and a new life begins to develop. Understanding the timing of fertilization can help pinpoint an accurate due date, as this date is often used as the basis for the pregnancy timeline. Knowing this moment precisely can make it easier to monitor the pregnancy’s progress with tools like the due date calculator.

The visual element of a digital due date calculator makes everything feel more real. Suddenly you can follow week by week, see how the baby develops, and begin to imagine what life will be like when the little one finally arrives. It creates joy, anticipation and a feeling of being well prepared.
