Nothing would turn out as I had expected…
I was heavily pregnant and, without fully grasping why or how, had sold several thousand products to my followers on Instagram – so many that my stock was emptied within a few short weeks, while demand remained sky-high. Everyone wanted to try the new, effective products that were quickly spreading on social media. Skincare that can prevent or relieve tension or promote a better, more restful sleep for both adults and children? People were all in for that (and I completely understand!).
My biggest challenge was that, up until now, we had kept everything in our apartment in Copenhagen. When we received products, we had 4,000 items, just as many boxes, tissue paper, and small handwritten postcards covering every available surface in our apartment. And I was due to give birth – very, very soon.
I quickly decided that we had to move Cana Care out – and bring an employee in. And so, I found myself with the keys to a small – but actually quite cozy – basement space in Østerbro, just a few weeks before my due date. It felt amazing to have taken that leap, and I felt both proud and a little scared at the same time. Imagine hiring your very first employee and starting to pay rent, just as you’re planning to go on maternity leave! But that’s how it was – and that’s how it went. And fortunately so.
During my daughter’s birth, it would turn out that my future was not going to be as I had expected. Not at all…
